Jacksonville Zoo- Manatee Habitat
Jacksonville, FL

COMING 2026!

The Jacksonville Zoo's Manatee River Habitat will introduce a Manatee State-of-the-art facility dedicated to the care of manatees undergoing treatment at the zoo. Aqua Design Systems is tasked with constructing four new treatment pools and three habitats, providing a total of 330,000 gallons of rehabilitation space. This innovative habitat will enable the zoo to rescue and release up to 18 local Florida manatees! ADS will handle all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, machinery, tools, transportation, shop drawings, samples, submit, and any other necessary components for a comprehensive LSS Equipment and Piping scope of work as outlined. When completed, it will be the largest manatee rescue center in Florida, featuring over a mile of underground HDPE piping up to 24 inches, 18 filters over 12 feet tall, and 27 pumps, along with an automated control system and an ozone system.

Six Flags Ultra Surf Splash Feature
Austell, GA

Aqua Design Systems is excited to contribute to the newest thrill ride at Six Flags Over Georgia — the Ultra Surf, a dynamic coaster experience that launches riders back and forth along a giant horseshoe-shaped track. As part of the ride’s immersive design, a shallow pond with interactive fountain effects will be featured at the low point of the attraction, adding both visual drama and sensory impact.

While the ride vehicle itself does not come into contact with the water, its movement across the low track section will trigger timed fountain bursts that simulate splash effects, enhancing the rider experience and spectator appeal. These high-energy water displays will arc over or erupt alongside the passing vehicle, choreographed to heighten the impression of a near miss with water — all without actually getting riders wet.

Because the park operates 10 months out of the year, the design takes into account seasonal flexibility. During warmer months, the feature will serve as a water-driven spectacle with choreographed spray sequences. In the colder months, the pond transforms into a visual centerpiece through interactive lighting effects, providing entertainment and ambiance even when the fountains are not actively spraying.

To support both visual and operational goals, the pond will be engineered with a self-contained water treatment system, ensuring consistently safe and clean water for public display. Aqua Design’s deep experience with interactive fountains, ride-adjacent features, and high-performance aquatic systems makes us uniquely qualified to bring this attraction to life — both as a ride enhancement and as a standalone spectacle.

30’ pool, built in a hexagon shape (30’ clear on the inside) and a water level around the perimeter at 5’. The bottom of the pool slopes 6” to the center. With these parameters, we calculate the pool capacity to be approx. 32,100 gallons. Addition of the receiving/procedure pool which we see at approx. 11,000 gallons (although the LSS system is designed & built for the 43,000 total gallons). The LSS system is one stand-alone system for these two pools, and any further expansion will be a separate LSS system. Completed 2017.
